Every year the average number of plastic water bottles used by households is roughly 480. This equates to around 600,000 tonnes of plastic bottles ending up in our landfills every year. This increases at a depressing rate year upon year, with little effort to eliminate this issue.
Most of this waste is not recycled, and an even smaller number is reused.
There needs to be a change to help this issue of filling up of limited landfill space, and the direct threat of plastic to humans and animals alike.
